CHEYENNE, WY, {November 2013} – The University of Wyoming College of Law this fall held the annual Hirst Applegate student Trial Competition with the finals round commencing on October 24th. The competition is a hands-on learning opportunity for law students to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before distinguished members of the bar and bench. Four member Law student teams competed in several mock trials during the preliminary rounds of the competition.

The winning team was comprised of: Isaiah Gross-Rapid City, SD, Graham Hersh-Denver, CO, Andrew Priebe-Centennial, CO and Grant Smith-Conrad, MT. Members of the second place team were: Sean Deveau-Cheyenne, WY, Jonathan McCoy-Cheyenne, WY, Laura Petrilli-Longmont, CO, and Holli Welch-Cody, WY.

Practicing attorneys and judges from Wyoming volunteered to serve as judges for the competition. Albany County District Court Judge J.A. Donnell served as the presiding judge for the finals. Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Michael K. Davis, College of Law Dean Stephen Easton, and Robert C. Jarosh from Hirst Applegate, LLP served as judges and evaluators for the final round of the competition.
