Hirst Applegate attorneys Rob Jarosh and Melissa Grasmick recently prevailed on a motion to dismiss on behalf of the Canadian manufacturer of a drilling rig, which was sued for products liability in the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming. Jarosh and Grasmick successfully argued that the Court did not have personal jurisdiction over the defendant for an accident that happened in Colorado, even though the plaintiff was a Wyoming resident, because of the defendant’s limited contacts within the State of Wyoming.
