CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Robert C. Jarosh, an attorney from Cheyenne and the immediate Past President of the Wyoming State Bar, has received a 2018 Pro Bono Award for Community Service. Cathy Jarosh, Rob’s wife, presented the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Laramie, Wyoming.
The nomination for the award was submitted by Mark Gifford, Bar Counsel for the Wyoming State Bar.
Jarosh has made significant contributions to and on behalf of the Wyoming legal community in several different ways and was recognized for his volunteer work in the Cheyenne community, specifically as Board President of Stride Learning Center and coaching youth sports. According to Rob’s wife, Cathy, “Rob devotes a lot of time to making sure the boys he coaches are not just becoming better baseball players, but that they’re also becoming better people. He has always stressed being a good teammate and having fun.”
Jarosh graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1989 where he first became interested in the law as a participant in the Wyoming High School Mock Trial Program. Jarosh is a senior partner of the Cheyenne law firm Hirst Applegate, LLP, where he was the managing partner from 2008 – 2016. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. (1993), an M.A. (1995), and a J.D. (2001). From 2001-2002, Rob served a clerkship with Federal Magistrate Judge William C. Beaman.
Jarosh primarily practices as a civil litigator, including in the areas of employment litigation, commercial litigation, product liability litigation, complex litigation, and personal injury litigation. He also provides employment training and counseling to private and public organizations, and serves as an administrative hearing officer for various governmental entities in Laramie County. He has an active trial practice that includes work in state district courts throughout the State, as well as federal district court.
When he is not working, Jarosh volunteers as a coach and/or judge for the high school mock trial program, the We the People civics program, and coaches youth baseball. He also serves as the President for the Board of Directors for STRIDE Learning Center. Jarosh is also a member of the Cowboy Joe Club Board of Directors and serves on the University of Wyoming Athletic Director’s Advisory Council. From 2008-2014, he served the Wyoming State Bar on the Board of Continuing Legal Education, including as the Chairperson. He served as Vice President of the Wyoming State Bar from September 2015 – September 2016, served as President-Elect from September 2016 – September 2017 and most recently served as President of the Wyoming State Bar from September 2017 – September 2018.
