CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Erin Berry, an attorney with Hirst Applegate in Cheyenne, has received a 2021 Pro Bono Award for Legal Services for Indigent Clients. Robert Jarosh, an attorney at Berry’s firm and a Past President of the Bar, presented the award today at an Awards Luncheon taking place in conjunction with the Wyoming State Bar Virtual Annual Meeting.
The nomination for the award was submitted by Angie Dorsch, Equal Justice Wyoming Executive Director.
Berry was recognized for her commitment and dedication to providing outstanding pro bono services through the Wyoming State Bar and Equal Justice Wyoming Volunteer Lawyer Program. In the nomination, Dorsch described the hard work and outstanding efforts in a very complex and challenging case.
Berry is an associate at Hirst Applegate, LLP where she has practiced since 2018. Her practice focuses on business, real estate and employment litigation. In her time at Hirst Applegate, LLP, Berry has represented clients in federal and state trials, contested case hearings before administrative agencies and before the Wyoming Supreme Court. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology with honors from the University of Wyoming in 2014. During college, she studied abroad in Australia and participated in volunteer projects in Peru and Costa Rica. Berry was also a recipient of the Multicultural Pride scholarship for leadership and commitment to diversity.
Berry graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law with honors in 2018 and is a member of the Order of the Coif. While in law school, she served as a staff member and published a case note for the Wyoming Law Review. During the fall 2017 semester, Berry served as an extern for the Honorable Cathleen Parker of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Wyoming. As a member of the Prosecution Assistance Clinic, she successfully represented the State of Wyoming in a criminal appeal before the Wyoming Supreme Court in 2018. Berry also represented the University of Wyoming College of Law in the National Voir Dire Tournament and the Pace Environmental Law National Moot Court Competition.
