Hirst Applegate partner Kara L. Ellsbury will co-present “Risky Business or Business Risk? Risk Management for Law Offices” with Mark Gifford, Wyoming State Bar Counsel, at the upcoming Wyoming State Bar Annual Meeting. In 2016, Ms. Ellsbury was tasked with updating Hirst Applegate’s Risk Management Plan. Ms. Ellsbury then found herself in the role of Risk Management Officer for the firm. Ms. Ellsbury’s and Mr. Gifford’s presentation will address the necessity of a risk management plan as a critical component of law office management given the rapidly-changing legal services landscape. The presentation will also include a discussion of common mistakes by attorneys and how to avoid them.
Ms. Ellsbury began practicing in 2010. Her practice is primarily focused on civil litigation, including employment law and litigation, personal injury and wrongful death litigation, construction defect litigation, and contract litigation. She also practices public utility and energy law, including appearing before the Wyoming Public Service Commission.
