Attorney Shaina A. Case presented a webinar via Zoom entitled “Where there’s no will, there’s no way; protect your loved ones with an estate plan,” for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services on May 13, 2020. The webinar focused on the importance of preparing an estate plan now, while we are able and well, in the event of our disability and upon our deaths.

COVID-19 has certainly made many of us think about putting our affairs in order during this time of uncertainty. Having even the most basic, custom designed estate plan in place, consisting at a minimum of a will, durable power of attorney, advanced directive, and HIPAA, is important.  It allows you to take control now and make decisions to protect not just yourself, but your loved ones. For example, who will make health care decisions for you if you cannot communicate with your physician; or, who can pay bills on your behalf if you could no longer pay them yourself.

Hirst Applegate attorneys and staff continue to work remotely and serve clients during COVID-19. The estate planning department continues to prepare and work with clients to prepare and complete their estate plans in a responsible, safe manner. Please contact Shaina for questions on how to begin the estate planning during the pandemic. Stay well.
