On April 28, in coordination with Equal Justice Wyoming, Hirst Applegate sponsored free legal advice for low-income Wyoming residents.  Equal Justice Wyoming, an instrument of the judicial branch of the State of Wyoming, created for the purpose of improving access to legal services in Wyoming, regularly offers free 20 to 30 minute consultations with volunteer attorneys on civil legal questions such as divorce and custody, landlord/tenant, debt and consumer problems.  In addition to sponsoring the event, several Hirst Applegate attorneys attended and provided free legal advice.  According to attorney Billie Addleman, “Pro bono services are an important part of the firm culture and commitment to the Cheyenne community.”  Attorney Jake Brooks added, “it was a privilege to work with Equal Justice Wyoming and help people who are not able to afford an attorney.  Every attorney in Wyoming should make an effort to get involved with this program.”  Hirst Applegate has a history of civic involvement and community service, with several of its members serving on non-profit boards and in leadership positions with various civic organizations.
